MeiT Privacy Policy

We recommend that you read this privacy policy in order to know, in detail, what data we use for what purpose and for how long we need to keep it, in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Organic Law 3/2018, of 5 December, on the Protection of Personal Data and guarantee of digital rights.

1. Data controller.

MeiT living solutions, S.L. hereinafter MeiT, domiciled at calle de Velacho Alto, 16, 28033, Madrid and with Tax Identification Number: B-01685056", is the company responsible for the processing of personal data provided through the website https://www.meit.es (the "Platform") and any other website, mobile phone applications and other devices (the "Media") through which MeiT provides its services.

2. Personal data we collect.

2.1 Information required to use the Platform and/or the Media.

We collect your personal data when you use the Platform and/or the Media. If you do not do so, it is possible that some of the services cannot be provided. The necessary information you are required to provide to us includes:

Contact details, account, profile information, such as name, surname, telephone number, current postal address, e-mail address, date of birth, professional or academic information.

Information on identity verification and payment details: national identity card, residence card or passport, your bank account details.

Proof of ownership and condition of the properties: deeds and title deeds, videos and photos of the properties.

Proof of solvency, such as payslips or tax returns and data and information, if applicable, from the guarantor or third party payer. In providing us with this information, you must declare that the guarantor or payer consents to the processing of this data by MeiT. Some of this data will also be necessary to complete and sign the Lease Agreement made available by MeiT to Users.

We may also sometimes ask you for additional information and evidence to resolve disputes (photos, videos, voice recordings); other information to enable you to participate in competitions and promotions.

If you are interested in working with us, you must provide us with your name, surname, telephone, email, CV, cover letter and other optional information such as presence in social networks, promotional video.

2.2 Additional information provided voluntarily.

Where you wish to provide them, you may also provide us with additional personal data, which may include:

Additional profile information: preferred languages, city, profile picture and personal description. As noted in your account settings, some of this information is part of your public profile and will be visible to anyone.

Other information: by filling out a form, adding information to your account, responding to surveys, posting in community forums, participating in promotions, communicating with Customer Service or other members of our team, or telling us about your experience.

2.3 Information that is automatically collected.

We will automatically collect personal data when you use the Platform, the Media and the Payment services, which may include:

Geographic location information. For example, a precise or approximate location determined from your IP address or your mobile device's GPS, depending on your device settings. We may also collect this information when you are not using the app if you enable this in your device settings or permissions.

Usage Information. For example, the pages or other content you view, the Ad searches you perform, the bookings you have made and other actions you take on the Platform and/or Media.

Log data and information about your device. For example, information about how you have used the Platform (including how many times you have clicked on links to third party applications), IP address, dates and times of access, hardware and software information, device information, device event information, unique identifiers, crash data, cookie data, and the pages you viewed or interacted with before or after using the Airbnb Platform. We may collect this information even if you have not created an account or logged in.

Information on payment transactions. For example, the payment instrument used, the date and time, the amount, the due date of the payment instrument and the billing postcode and other details related to the transaction.

Registration as a Renter via Facebook/Google. When you register through Facebook or Google, we collect through these; name, email, date of birth and gender.

Google Analytics: As you browse or interact with the content of our website or the App, we collect certain information or dissociated data through Google Analytics, such as the IP address of your device, the type of device and browser used, the size of the screen, geographic location, language used, websites visited and the date and time they were visited.

3. Purposes of processing.

3.1 Related to the provision of the MeiT service.

We process your personal data in order to provide you with the services you have requested. In particular, we process the data of any User of the Platform and/or Measured for the purpose of managing your relationship with MeiT and the provision of services by MeiT. Among others:

  • If you are a Renter, we process your data so that you can create your User account, use it or modify it; save your search preferences, receive alerts and make booking requests. In addition, we give you the option to make a brief description about yourself so that the Owner has more information when deciding whether or not to accept the pre-reservation.
  • If you are an Owner, we process your data so that you can create your User account, use it or modify it; manage the advertisements of your Properties and receive pre-reservation requests. In addition, we need your data to manage the visit to the property and make the necessary plans, videos and photographs.
  • To enable the invoicing and payment of amounts payable to MeiT by any User, as well as to reclaim any amounts that Users may owe MeiT.
  • Facilitate the signing of the Lease Contract by the Users.
  • Contacting Users to inform them about the status of a pre-booking or reservation. These communications may be made by email, telephone or text message. The form of communication chosen will depend on the reason for the communication.
  • Resolving complaints, providing help and assistance during the process of advertising and searching for properties.

3.2 For commercial and promotional purposes.

We will use your personal data, provided that you have given us your consent, to send you news and promotions related to the services provided by MeiT. You may ask us to unsubscribe from receiving these communications at any time.

3.3 To analyse solvency and prevent fraud.

MeiT and its partners may process your personal data for risk assessment and security purposes, including authentication of Users and Properties.

Your personal data may also be used for the detection and prevention of fraud and other illegal or unwanted activities. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may request and receive additional information from third parties and/or partners, and cross-reference it with the data we already have to analyse the creditworthiness of Users and prevent fraud.

3.4 To improve our service.

MeiT may conduct tests, user interviews, research and analytical studies to improve the quality of services. Occasionally, we will use some of your personal data and dissociated data obtained through, for example, Google Analytics.

Through the satisfaction survey and reviews, MeiT will analyse and draw conclusions in order to provide better services and avoid bad experiences.

3.5. To respond to requests for work.

If you have applied for a job or sent us your CV, we will process your data in order to manage the personnel and/or collaborator selection processes.

4. Legal basis for these processing operations.

The legal basis that allows us to process your data for each of the purposes indicated in the previous section are:

(i) the existence of a contractual relationship which applies when you use our service;
(ii) the legitimate interest in preventing fraud and improving our service; and
(iii) your consent for all other uses, in particular use for marketing purposes.

5. Data retention period.

MeiT will process your personal data for a period of five (5) years, and may subsequently keep it blocked for the time periods resulting from the prescription of legal actions related to this processing.

In general, data that are necessary for the provision of the service will be kept for as long as necessary for this purpose or until you expressly request us to delete them. However, they will be kept "blocked" for a period of 6 years at the disposal of the public administration, judges and courts, for the attention and defence of possible liabilities arising from the processing.

We may retain some of your personal data to the extent necessary for our legitimate interests, such as detecting and preventing fraud. The data collected for this purpose will be kept blocked for a period of 10 years at the disposal of the public administration, judges and courts, for the attention and defence of possible liabilities arising from the processing.

The data used to send you news and promotions will be used by us until you ask us to stop. Please note that you can ask us to stop sending you personalised news, offers and promotions at any time by clicking on the "unsubscribe" link in any of our communications or by writing to us.

We will keep your application data for a period of 6 months and will ask your permission to keep it for a further 6 months, otherwise it will be deleted from our system.

Finally, we will keep the data necessary to improve our service for a maximum period of 1 year.

6. Communication of data.

In order to properly provide and manage our services, we need to share your data with:

(i) Tenants and Owners. We will share between Tenants and Owners the data necessary to manage the pre-reservation, reservation and, where appropriate, the signing of the Lease Agreement through the Platform or the Media. The acceptance of the T&Cs by Users implies that Users may not use the personal data of other Users for purposes other than the management of the rental of a Property.
(ii) With our employees and collaborators to organise the visit to the Property. All of them have signed the corresponding Data Processor contract.
(iii) With the suppliers involved in the provision of the service and with whom MeiT has signed the corresponding Data Processor contract.

Service providers may assist us, for example, in the following:

  • Process payments.
  • To provide customer services.
  • Store information securely.
  • Send commercial communications.
  • Perform product development, maintenance and bug fixing tasks.
  • Prevent possible fraud.
  • Debt collection and recovery.
  • Verify or authenticate identity and address.

(iv) Competent authorities. We may disclose your personal data to competent authorities if required to do so by law or if strictly necessary for the prevention, detection or prosecution of criminal acts and fraud, or in any other legally mandatory case. We may also disclose it to protect and defend our interests and rights or those of our employees or users.

7. Confidentiality and security.

MeiT uses all reasonable efforts to maintain the confidentiality of personal information processed through the Platform and Media and maintains strict levels of security to prevent accidental loss and unauthorised access, processing or disclosure, given the state of technology, nature and risks to which the data is exposed. However, MeiT cannot be held responsible for your use of the data (including username and password) that you use on MeiT or outside of our Platform or Media.

8. Rights.

In accordance with applicable law, you may exercise the rights we announce in this section, free of charge and at any time. Please note that we may ask you to verify your identity before proceeding with your request.

To exercise any of your rights, simply send an email to info@the-meit.es. We will deal with your request as soon as possible and, always, within the deadlines established in RGPD.

We remind you that, in accordance with the provisions of the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Access: You have the right to know whether or not we are processing your personal data. If so, we will give you access to the data we are processing, the recipients of such data, if any, the storage period and the purpose of the processing, among other things.
  • Rectification: You can ask us to amend data that is inaccurate or incomplete. In your request, you must tell us which data you are referring to, as well as the correction to be made.
  • Deletion: You can ask us to delete your personal data (i) when they are no longer necessary for the purpose for which we collected them; (ii) when you withdraw your consent, in case we only process them for purposes based on your consent, although in certain cases and despite your request, we may have to keep your data blocked for a certain period of time due to legal obligations.
  • Portability: You can ask us to provide you directly or to provide another entity, where technically feasible, with a structured, commonly used, computer-readable file containing your personal data.
  • Restriction: You can ask us to temporarily restrict the use of your personal data (i) where you believe your personal data is inaccurate, until we verify or update it (in the meantime, you will not be able to use the service); (ii) where we no longer need your personal data for the purposes of processing, but you need it for the purposes of making, exercising or defending a claim; and (iii) where you have objected to the processing, while MeiT verifies whether our legitimate grounds override your right.
  • Opposition: You may object, at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data, including profiling, and we will stop processing your personal data, unless there are compelling legitimate grounds which override your rights or for the formulation, exercise or defence of claims.

In addition, you can object to the use of your personal data for direct marketing purposes, including profiling to the extent it is related to marketing.

Finally, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency, Calle Jorge Juan, 6 28001 Madrid, or via the web page https://www.aepd.esif, in your opinion, your personal data have not been processed correctly.

9. Changes to our Privacy Policy.

MeiT's privacy policy may change from time to time, so please check back from time to time. In the event of any changes that are deemed material, we will inform you by email.
